"Soon Spring" is an enticing nude digital work by Asssha, featuring Roseluck from the popular television program: "My Little Pony". The MLP Explicit Nude is a subject which is rarely given such reverence, yet here we have Roseluck sprawled out on a gradient surface, decorated with scattered rose petals contouring her form and the immediate space around her.

The petals in this work are used as a romantic element which adds a dynamic, aesthetic complexity in tandem with the gradual rhythm of the nude figure. In a staccato fashion the brief breakages of Roseluck's long, graceful form is counterpointed with the inclusion of scattered rose petals. Such a sharp and dynamic tempo mimics the thumping of a passionate young heart, further carried through by the passionate use of bloody red in the petals resting against Roseluck's pale yellow coat.

Conceptually these petals placed on the figure associate feelings of passion and love with the subject, as the red rose is commonly regarded as a flower of love and romance, often given as gifts on Valentines Day or anniversaries. So quite clearly the subject's name and cutie mark act as clear provocation of linking these sensations with her, Roseluck, in particular. Though perhaps not so explicit is Roseluck's gaze which engages the viewer directly and confidently, despite being in a vulnerable state. Her gaze in this climate could be interpreted as an invitation especially noticing how her pupil is dilated, which adds as a sign of arousal. Though perhaps more clearly, Roseluck's raised tail demonstrates her desire in a very direct manner, showing intent in revealing her nethers.

For a work as considered and complex as this, to be completed so immediately in a brief session shows the ability and creative power at Asssha's disposal. The use of colour is so harmonious by working with a split-complementary palette of Pale Naples Yellow, with the inclusion of tertiary Umbers, influenced by variants of Burgandy's and Alizarin Crimson Pinks; all the while accompanied with Sap Greens to contrast in hue. The colours exude a warm atmosphere of calm and comfort for the most part, but minor accents and focal points of contrast create pockets of drama and fiery passion intermittently throught the piece.

Through her alluring pose, her beckoning gaze and her raised tail, Roseluck seems to anticipating something. A call to action is directed toward the viewer to approach and satisfy her desire which she is expecting to be addressed. Harking back to the title "Soon Spring", the title also invokes notions of anticipation and expectation. The cycle of the seasons, like the cycles of the moon have ritualistically been associated the cycle of life and fertility. Couples in ancient times would copulate in fields in hopes of a bountiful harvest, and similar ritualistic metaphors are made with the inclusion of flowers scattered on a fertile, flirtatious female.

Asssha successfully uses colour, rhythm and symbolism with the female pony form to rouse feelings of love, passion and anticipation. "Soon Spring" is a lovely depiction of Roseluck which has given me great pleasure to view.
